‘Beginners’ Throwing - 4 or 5 Week Courses

Join our Pottery Wheel Course for beginners at Brick Kiln Pottery. In a creative environment, you'll learn the basics of wheel throwing, from centering clay to shaping vessels. With hands-on instruction and feedback, you’ll develop your unique style. Spaces are limited, so reserve your spot and start your pottery journey today!

Week 1 - Preparing clay, introduction to tools, throw your first ever pots!

Week 2 - Trimming of your pots made on previous session. Plus more throwing practice.

Week 3 - Trimming of your pots made on previous session. Plus more throwing practice.

Week 4 - Trimming of your pots made on previous session. Looking at alternative forms

Week 5 - Glazing - a chance to glaze your own pots in a choice of dipping glaze colours

NB: On the 4 week course, week 3 will be missing.

Session Duration: 2 hours

Course of 4 Sessions Fee: £250 per person

Course of 5 Sessions Fee: £300 per person

‘Improvers’ Throwing - full day

Enhance your pottery skills with our Improvers Throwing Course at Brick Kiln Pottery. This intensive session is designed for those with basic throwing experience seeking to advance their throwing skills. Our patient instructors will guide you through advanced techniques, empowering you to create sophisticated forms on the wheel.

Refine your posture, coordination and build confidence, in an intimate class setting that offers personalised feedback. Experience a day of creativity, and take a significant step towards pottery mastery in a nurturing, sophisticated environment.

Class time: 10:00am - 3:30pm

Class fee: £150 per person. Includes unlimited clay and firing

Please bring a packed lunch as we will be breaking for lunch for 30 minutes at 1pm. We do serve crisps and cakes in our coffee shop. Could you also bring an apron and an old towel.

On completion of this class, you will be invited to attend an ‘assisted glazing session’ to glaze your pots.

‘improvers’ Throwing - 4 Week Course (coming soon)

Elevate your pottery skills with our Improvers Throwing Course at Brick Kiln Pottery. Designed for those with basic throwing knowledge, this course explores advanced techniques for creating refined forms on the wheel. Under close guidance, refine your posture, coordination and gain confidence. Enjoy personalised feedback to enhance your technique and deepen your appreciation for pottery.

This is a less structured course, compared to the beginners, enabling everyone to work on their own projects. eg. different forms or a set of mugs.

Could you please bring an apron and an old towel.

Session Duration: 2.5 hours

Course of 4 Sessions Fee: £250 per person

On completion of this course, you will be invited to attend an ‘assisted glazing session’ to glaze your pots.
